Yes, we are supposed to celebrate our freedom by acting like Kings. We should use only the finest china on the seder night, drink fine wine, and set the table previously.

yes it is, it is a flashback on how my people(jews) had gotten our independence from the egyptians when we were slaves for them. this is my version. below is wikipedia

Yes, it is very happy because Jews celebrate freedom after being slaves in Egypt. It is a fundamental Jewish tradition to keep in mind bad things as well during happy times. In the case of Passover, we keep in mind the suffering of the Egyptians when God punished them with the 10 plagues. One way we consolidate this is by removing some wine from our cups during the seder (festive meal), because wine is a symbol of happiness. Most of the emphasis of the holiday is on freedom, so it is a happy holiday.
